Indian & Pakistani Dinner Recipes (eid Food Recipes)
There is no such thing as a cheese board in South Asian cuisine. This is why making and eating a cheese board can be extremely intimidating for those of us of South Asian descent. I grew up in Pakistan and there were two types of cheese in my house, cheddar and mozzarella, and the cheese was either eaten in a sandwich or put on a pizza rather than eaten by itself. I still remember the first time I was presented with a cheese board. i had no idea what to do and i’m sure many people from pakistan and india feel the same way.
That’s why I created this how to make a cheese board guide. This blog post will answer all your questions about making a cheese board / cheese plate / cheese platter.

Pakistani Food Archives
Before making a cheese board / grazing plate, make a list of the items you want to include on it. You can even sketch a diagram. Think about the guests, how adventurous they are, and the theme of the menu, then make your list. Treat the cheese board as a separate dish and choose items that complement the rest of the menu. For a breakfast party I would go with croissants, fruit and add a soft cheese like cream cheese, labneh or feta cheese. For lunch or dinner, I treat the cheese plate as my appetizer and include things like baked brie with garlic toast and crackers.
Any type of board or tray can be used as a base for a cheese board. The same goes for trophies.
You don’t need a fancy specialized base for your cheese board. Cutting boards, baking sheets, serving trays, serving plates, dinner plates can work. If you don’t have a large enough board, place two small serving plates next to each other. Same thing with bowls – beverage bowls, cereal bowls, soup bowls can all work.
Do a dry run of the cheese board by placing the cheese in different bowls and boards to see how it looks.
