Cake Recipe Oreo – Okay, Oreo cookie lovers. This is for you! After making this Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Cake last summer, I couldn’t wait to make an all cake version. So I finally bought a pack of Oreos and hit the kitchen to do some experimenting and I’m oh so happy with the results. See:

This Oreo Cookies & Cream cake all starts with my favorite One Bowl Chocolate Cake recipe. As the name implies, it is the easiest cake in the world to make. All the ingredients are mixed together in one bowl and the result is magical: moist, decadent chocolate cake bursting with flavor and as easy as whipping up a batch of cake mix! It’s the perfect base flavor for this Oreo cake masterpiece.

Now let’s talk about the Oreo buttercream because that’s what takes this cake further! You’ll want to use a food processor to mix up some Oreo cookies (filling removed), but if you don’t have one handy, you can always place the cookies in a resealable bag and crush them with a rolling pin. The second option is a bit more time consuming because you want the Oreo pieces to be as small as possible, but it’s a way. After mixing the Oreos into as fine a crumb as possible, add them to the buttercream recipe as the last step. Look how pretty those little specks of Oreo are:

The Ultimate Oreo Cake

After filling and icing the chocolate cake with Oreo buttercream, I opted to add a chocolate ganache drop for some design intrigue, then added some pretty piping, Mini Oreos, and a few SprinklePop sprinkles (the Wedding White- mix) to bind it all together. However you decorate it, one thing I know for sure: you want to eat a piece right away. Unless, of course, you ate pie scraps and buttercream like I always do!

Update 2020: I’ve changed the dimensions in the recipe below to make just enough batter for three 6-inch cake pans or two 9-inch cake pans. I always make triple 6-inch layers when making cakes (I love tall cakes!), and since I get so many questions about how to convert the original recipe into three 6-inch layers, I thought I’d check it out. would count for you. So the same great recipe, with the most requested amount of batter!

DIY buttermilk recipe: Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar to a jar and top it with 1 cup of whole milk. Stir and let stand for 15 minutes before using in the recipe.

Who else loves Oreo cookies? That cookie and cream flavor is always a favorite in our house and this cake is the perfect treat for that Oreo lover in your life. We’ve used this recipe for birthdays, holidays, and other celebrations, but honestly, do you need a reason to bake an Oreo cake?

Oreo Ice Cream Cake

For this recipe, I have large pieces of Oreo in the batter and a white cake so you can really see and taste those cookie pieces when you bite into a slice of cake. I’ve had Oreo cakes before that had more of a chocolate base, but I feel like the chocolate overpowers the whole dessert and when I take a bite of Oreo all I want is that cookie and cream goodness!

Butter the bottom and sides of two 9-inch cake pans and preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Divide the cake batter evenly between the 2 cake tins and bake for 20-25 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.

Set aside about 1 ½ cups of white buttercream for decorating the top and piping on the bottom.

Oreo Cake With Oreo Frosting

Once a portion has been removed, add the crushed Oreos to the rest of the buttercream. This also changes the color of the buttercream to a gray biscuit and cream colour.

Once the cakes are baked and cooled to room temperature, place a layer of cake on your stand and add the Oreo buttercream frosting, this will be the center of the cake.

After adding a layer of buttercream, turn the second layer upside down so that the top of the cake is a smooth, flat surface and cover the entire cake with the Oreo Buttercream.

Once the cake layers are covered with Oreo Buttercream, use the white buttercream you set aside and pipe 8 evenly spaced dollops of buttercream onto the top of the cake. Then add 8 whole Oreos to the tufts.

Oreo Drip Cake

Finally, pipe a pretty design around the bottom of the Oreo cake, sprinkle some leftover Oreo cookie crumbs over the cake and serve and enjoy!

You can store this cookie and cream pie in an airtight container on your counter for a few days or in the refrigerator for about a week.

You can also freeze this cake in an airtight container for up to two weeks. Make sure to thaw the cake at room temperature before serving.

For the coarsely chopped Oreos in the cake better, these should be larger pieces so you can see the pieces when you go to cut the cake. These should not be crushed finely.

When the cake is fully cooked, it will not be golden brown, it will be a light color, so keep this in mind when baking.

When it comes to the buttercream icing, make sure to crush these Oreo pieces more finely so that the buttercream spreads more easily on the cake.

Oreo Cookie Cake

This cake, my peanut butter mousse cake and a few other treats were all made in the same 4 day period.

Every night after we ate, my dad, my best friend Paige, and I sat on the couch watching TV, or a movie, or whatever. At one point, one of us walked up to him and took out the cake and pie. The three of us stood around the counter and scraped a small piece off each. And more little slices, and more, until we were all so stuffed with chocolate, peanut butter, and Oreo cake.

The cake and pie would be placed back in the refrigerator, smaller than when they were taken out, until the next sugar craving hits. It was unsettling when they finally disappeared, and ever since I’ve desperately wanted an hour or two off so I can make this cookie and cream pie again.

If someone told me to choose between the two, I don’t know if I could. Each was great in its own right. The peanut butter mousse cake was rich and you can read more about it in its own post. But let’s get into the pie:

Oreo Cake (cookies And Cream Cake)

The chocolate cake layers themselves are light and fluffy, and a nice classic chocolate cake. The frosting is where things get really super yummy exciting. It’s hardly even frosting in the traditional sense — it’s not made with butter or loaded with absurd amounts of powdered sugar.

Instead, we make a big batch of fresh whipped cream with loads of crushed Oreos mixed in, sweetened with just a touch of sugar
