4. ADD EGGS. Switch to low speed and beat in the eggs one at a time, making sure each one is well incorporated after each addition.

6. ALTERNATELY MIX DRY INGREDIENTS AND BUTTERMAL. Add a third of the flour mixture, followed by half of the buttermilk. Then the second third of the flour, the rest of the buttermilk and finally the last amount of flour, making sure to combine well after each addition.

7. MOVE INTO PLAV AND SEAL. Transfer the cake batter to the prepared pans and bake until the cake starts to pull away from the sides of the pan and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with minimal dry crumbs stuck to it. 60-75 minutes for bread molds; longer for the container with tubes. Each oven is different, so if it seems to you that the cake is not ready, then it must be baked longer.

8. ALLOW TO COOL. Remove from the oven and leave to cool in the tins for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

If you are making the frosting, simply mix the confectioners’ sugar and lemon juice together in a small bowl until the sugar is completely dissolved. While still warm, pour over the cookies.
