Pontianak’s typical bakwan recipe is actually almost the same as bakwan in general. The difference lies in the addition of chives as a mixture of ingredients. Chives have a taste like onions. Adding chives to the bakwan dough makes the fried bakwan have a more distinctive aroma and taste.
