Dessert Recipes Quick Indian – Rava Kesari also known as Kesari Bhaat is one of the famous sweet dishes which is commonly prepared in South India using Rava. Whenever I have to make a quick dessert, Halwa and Rava Kesari are the only options that usually come to my mind.

By looking at the ingredients, one might find that Suji Halwa and Kesari Bhaat are almost the same and are just given different names for one food in two different regions of India. But that’s not really enough. While Halwa tends to be a bit dense, Rava Kesari has a soft texture that melts in the mouth. Furthermore, as it is called – Rava KESARI, Kesar a.k.a. Saffron is one of the main ingredients of this recipe and makes a huge difference in the appearance, taste and taste of the dish and you can easily differentiate Rava Kesari from Suji Halwa.

Jalebi Recipe (indian Funnel Cake) + Video

I first tasted this Rava Keari in my office cafeteria and I was literally drooling at its first appearance – its bright orange color – at first glance the saffron strands and not forgetting the use of decent amount of dry fruits in it. It says – a person tastes food visually before touching his tongue. And I totally agree with this saying. And all the persuasion after seeing this delicacy, was not in vain when I took this spoon with care.

That particular stall used to offer so many tempting COMBO options like Idli with Sevai, Vada with Kara Bhaat, Poha with pakodas and many more. Since I work in the morning, I rarely take breakfast and lunch with me. But frankly I have never repented once. Because I always get an amazingly delicious breakfast freshly prepared by an experienced local chef.

Heat 2 tablespoons of oil in a medium skillet and toast the chopped cashews and raisins until golden brown, stirring constantly over medium heat. Remove from pan and let cool. In the same pan, toast semolina over medium heat until aromatic and pale in color. Immediately transfer to a plate and set aside. Heat 1 cup of water in the same pot and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the toasted semolina and make the mixture lump-free while stirring constantly. Meanwhile – prepare saffron water by mixing orange and saffron strands in 2-3 tablespoons of warm water. Once you get a lump-free mixture, add the remaining ghee, turmeric water, and sugar and mix well. At first you will see a watery texture after adding sugar, but over time it will settle and then mixed with the fried dry fruits, leaving some for decoration later. Serve warm and enjoy.
