I was one of the recipe testers for French Appetizers, so I had the privilege of testing a few recipes before the cookbook was published. Three of the recipes I tried were:

All three recipes turned out so well that I made them again for my family. They had a hard time deciding which one they loved the most.

Gourmet Vegan Appetizers And Hors D’oeuvres

For this review, I was undecided about which recipes to make because they all looked so good. I finally chose the following recipes and linked to Marie’s French-inspired cocktail hour music to set the cooking mood.

Of the four flavors to choose from, I chose the Classic Gruyère Gougères simply because I love the taste of Gruyère. Sometimes my choux pastry doesn’t always turn out, but this time it turned out perfectly. Gougères are delicious and addictive.

Colorful garnishes make an attractive contrast to this white soup. I love cauliflower, and since all I can eat is cooked apples, this is the perfect soup to make for us all to enjoy. It is easy to do. Served warm and garnished with chopped shrimp and apple matcha (except for me), it makes a delicious broth.

This Pistachio Falafel is super easy to make. You add all the ingredients to a food processor bowl, pulse, shape them with a mini cookie scoop, and bake. At the first bite, you can taste the Middle Eastern flavor of the combination of pistachios, chickpeas and mint. They were so good that the 40 Pistachio Falafel disappeared in no time. I served them with Any-Bean Hummus (Page 25).

Reading French Appetizers and trying recipes inspires me to host l’apéro, as you will. Friends or family will appreciate a casual evening of delicious savory and sweet food accompanied by cocktails and good conversation, while listening to French-inspired cocktail music like Sous le Ciel de Paris and C It’s Bon.

“My trick is to serve the kids a ‘mini-apéro’ on a play table so they can stay busy and eat dinner while the adults can (finally) take an hour or two to catch up.”

You guys — are we cool enough to talk about Thanksgiving? I mean, it’s literally the biggest social eating occasion of the year, and I know we all love to hang out and eat. This is our thing. That’s my line of reasoning anyway to talk to you about these bomb French Onion Tartlets that I need you to add immediately to that Thanksgiving menu I know you have already already planned (ahem). Bonus points if you decide to do them ahead of time, you know, for research.

Christmas Cranberry Appetizer Recipe

The inspiration for these little treats came from a wedding we attended last weekend in Milwaukee for one of my dearest childhood friends. He and his wife had their reception at the original Pabst brewery which is now a beautiful venue and for hors d’oeuvres, they had bacon-wrapped shrimp (YUS), brat shots (a shot of beer with a slice of bratwurst and a spoonful of sauerkraut on a stick, brilliant) and what I can only assume are French onion tartlets. They were served in flaky phyllo cups and topped with a creamy caramelized onion mixture and I almost grabbed the entire tray from the waiter to eat them in the corner by myself. But then I thought more of that idea and decided to recreate them at home ASAP. And here we are.

These delicious mini tarts couldn’t be simpler, thanks to Athens Foods’ flaky, buttery mini fillo shells that are pre-made and baked and ready to fill. The hardest part is having the patience to let the onions for the caramel filling up to the 10th degree, and trust me, they need it – this is why these tarts sing (metaphorically). Plus, your kitchen will smell amazing. Your clothes may not be much, and people may question your cleanliness, but you can just give them one of these tartlets and they will forgive all pain.

The best part, as I mentioned earlier, is that they would be perfect for a Thanksgiving appetizer, and while my particular family is always convinced by the presentation of deviled eggs, spinach dip in a Hawaiian bread bowl and the block of cream cheese with slather. of jam above as our appetizers of choice, I think I can sneak them to the table and win them over to something new. They’ll play well with a cream cheese block, for sure.

Deliciously delicious French onion tartlets made with flaky, crispy mini fillo shells. This is the perfect appetizer for Thanksgiving or a holiday party! Ratatouille recipe is a delicious, vegan dish, very traditional in Southern France cuisine. These stir-fried mixed vegetables are perfect as an appetizer as well as a side dish! Traditionally, the ingredients are slowly simmered until creamy with Provencal Herbs, but over the years the cooking time has gradually decreased, so according to your preference cook the ratatouille 30 mins to 3 hours!

French Onion Tartlets Recipe

The Ratatouille recipe is a delicious example of the French countryside tradition, and consists of ingredients that can easily be grown in a private garden. For this reason, although the official recipe indicates the exact ingredients, it is easy to know that Ratatouille was originally prepared with any vegetable typical of Southern France.

The term Ratatouille appears for the first time in French cookbooks at the end of the XVIII Century and indicates any rough stew.

The first official Ratatouille recipe was published in 1930. The consistency of the original version was creamy, and the vegetables were overcooked for up to 3 hours. Over the years, the recipe has changed which reduces the cooking time. Currently, beyond the purists’ opinion, Ratatouille is slow cooked 30 to 60 minutes, after frying.

In 2007, the Disney movie “Ratatouille” made the homonymous dish world famous. The recipe prepared by the clever little mouse Remy at the end of the movie was inspired by the Vegetable Confit Byaldi by the famous American Chef Thomas Keller, published in his “1999 Cookbook”.

Rinse the eggplant, then cut it into cubes 1 inch per side. Now, pour the diced eggplant into a colander and mix with 2 tbsp of rock salt. Put the colander for a few hours in a bowl and let the bitter juice fall. Gently press and stir the eggplant occasionally to speed up the process. Do not use table or kosher salt; otherwise, the eggplant will be too salty. After that, discard the dark juice, then rinse the eggplant and discard all the salt, and dry them with a clean cloth.
