If there was one recipe that was requested a lot, it was how to make instant noodles. Many people turn up their noses at instant noodles, but we can’t deny that they make such a convenient lazy meal for the vast majority. There are many noodle varieties out there that- admittedly- taste good, but we still value our instant noodles.

Today, I’ll show you 3 very simple and basic ways you can upgrade your noodles. The recipe is low fuss and low effort, but high in flavor. Simple doesn’t always mean boring, and here’s a blogpost (and video) with three great recipes to show.

Making Local Noodle Company 100 Percent Zambian

Before getting into the specifics of cooking, the first step is to prepare the noodles. Preparation is simple: prepare them as the pack suggests and set aside. For this recipe, I used about one pack per recipe, but I made all three together.

Here’s a great way to add flavor to noodles while cooking them: instead of just soaking them in water, soak them in a broth or soup. Water is fine, but if you can add more flavor, always choose that route.

For these three recipes, I chose bone broth collected from my neighborhood butcher. Any other soup or broth would be fine.

In your sufuria, add ghee and salt. After that, add the red onion, garlic, rosemary and lemon zest. Lemon zest means the grated rind of a lemon. For this recipe, we’ll use the lemon zest and juice as a flavor to pair with the chicken.

Saute until soft and fragrant. Add chopped chicken after tomato paste, curry, turmeric and lemon juice. Add a little hot water/stock, mix everything together and let the chicken cook.

Chicken cooks very quickly, so make sure not to overcook it as we want to keep it juicy and tender.

You can see the compilation of this specific recipe in my YouTube video from 3.48 to 4.38. She is a beauty!!

I love the addition of crispy meatballs to the chicken dish, it makes it so filling. The rosemary really popped and not only did the lemon flavor come through, it was very vibrant and paired well with the chicken.

Thai Chicken & Mushroom Noodle Soup

I hope you give it a shot, and if not for yourself, then someone in your family you know will really enjoy it!

Melt coconut oil in your sufuria and add some salt and add red onion, garlic and daniya stalks. Since coconut is a key note in this dish, coconut oil was the perfect oil to play with those flavors.

As always, go with the daniya (cutti) stems first and garnish with the daniya leaves last.

Saute until soft and fragrant. Add button mushrooms to this and cook until golden brown. You can use any other type of mushroom you like.

Mongolian Beef Noodles

Add the coconut cream and spices and stir. If your mixture is too thick, add a little water/stock to loosen it up. Coconut milk can also be a great swap for coconut cream, although thick cream may not be available.

Boil for a minute or two, then add your cooked noodles, stir, coat and serve.

It was very pleasant. The simplicity of the spices really allowed the meatiness of the mushrooms to take center stage. Not only did the coconut cream make for a sexy coating on top of the noodles, but the really bright coconut notes made every bite so special! It is the epitome of simple taste!

Abalone And Xo Butter, Egg Noodles Recipe

Heat oil and some salt in your pan and add red onion, garlic, ginger and thyme. A great herby base makes a good foundation for flavoring, and it’s nothing short of perfect.

Saute until soft and fragrant. Add beef to this and cook until brown. Next, add your tomato paste, soy sauce, spices and hot water/stock.

Be careful not to add a sear as we want the minced meat to be pretty thick. Add 1/4 cup at a time, stopping when it’s as thick as you like. Let this saute till thick and then add peas. The peas are already cooked and come last.

I love my ground beef in any shape or form, and my fancy for a bowlful has really passed! I loved the heat of the chilies and the fullness of the thyme and cumin that always complimented the flavors of the beef. I enjoyed the freshness added by the peas and each mouthful was a delight. I’m writing this now and every description of this dish makes me want to make it again!
