Onion Sambal Recipe Suitable Served With Various Foods

  1. Heat cooking oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté shallots, garlic and cayenne pepper until fragrant and soft. Make sure it’s not too dry or too burnt.
  3. Remove the stir-fried onions and chilies, then let it cool for a moment.
  4. Once cool, grind the shallots, garlic and cayenne pepper using a blender or pestle.
  5. Add the chopped tomatoes to the blender and puree again until all the ingredients are well mixed.
  6. Heat the oil again in a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Sauté the onion and chili mixture until cooked and looks greasy.
  8. Add sugar and salt, stir until sugar and salt dissolve. Taste and adjust the taste according to taste.
  9. Remove the chilli sauce and let it cool before serving.

This onion sauce can be served as a complement to various kinds of food, such as fried rice, fried noodles, fried chicken, grilled fish, or satay. The spicy and slightly sweet taste will give a delicious touch to the dish. If you like your sambal spicier, you can add more cayenne pepper or use a spicier variety of chili.
