Based on applicable regulations, every food business is required to have halal certification. Business owners are also given a deadline to be able to have halal certification until October 17, 2024. After that time, business owners will be given sanctions in stages. Starting from written warnings, fines, to a ban on operations.
Realizing the existence of these regulations, the Kopitiam brand from Singapore, Heavenly Wang, applied for halal certification through the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH). After an audit, Heavenly Wang has now obtained a Halal Certificate from the Indonesian Ulema Council’s Food, Drug and Cosmetic Assessment Institute (LPPOM MUI) and a Halal Certificate from the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH) with a Very Good score category.
With the Halal regulation, Heavenly Wang hopes that Muslim consumers can have confidence that the products and food served by Heavenly Wang have gone through a process that complies with Islamic requirements. Actually, Heavenly Wang has obtained a halal certification from his home country, Singapore. Due to expansion into Indonesia, Heavenly Wang is applying for halal certification again in accordance with regulations in force in Indonesia.
