The first recipe for Greek cheese was attributed to the writer Athena in 230 AD. But it was the Americans who added cream cheese to the cake in 1872. – Creation of Neufchatel, France. While it may seem like cheese is off limits, New York-style cheesecake uses cream cheese along with eggs, cream, sugar, and usually a graham cracker crust. Jell-O always has space. At least that’s what the dessert’s famous advertising slogan says. Jell-O is actually a brand name, but it’s become synonymous with all kinds of gelatin desserts, and the joke has an undeniably fun appeal. It’s easy to make and requires almost no cleanup. All you have to do is pour boiling water over the powder mixture and refrigerate it for a few hours.

Carrot cake may be considered a “healthy” dessert because it’s made with carrots, but it’s still a rich, sweet cake. So don’t take yourself, just give yourself. Chalermsak/Shutterstock
Ah, carrot cake. Not only is it equal parts creamy and delicious, but it’s probably the best dessert choice when you’re trying to treat yourself to something healthy. Carrots are good for you, so carrot cake can’t be too bad, right? Not good.
Popular in the mid-20th century in America, carrot cake is a delicious mix of sweet and sour cake with cream cheese frosting (made from cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract). Like many other desserts, carrot cake can be made using a traditional recipe or dressed up with additional ingredients such as macadamia nuts, pineapple, and coconut.
Of course, if fat and calories are a concern, you can easily alleviate it by making a few simple adjustments, such as reducing the amount of sugar and fat and keeping the moisture in such as adding crushed pineapple. Anyway, it’s a stretch to call carrot cake a healthy dessert, but it’s always delicious.

The first apple pie can be traced back to 14th century Europe, but today it has become as much a symbol of America as baseball and the 4th of July. Eldred Lim/Shutterstock
America doesn’t like baseball, hot dogs, and apple pie. But Apple Mail didn’t originate in the United States.
Apple peels or tarts were introduced to Europe in the 14th century. The first apple pie was in 1390, and they used honey instead of sugar, which was rarely used. In the 1700s, the cake became quite popular in England and was brought to the new American colonies. Apple pie was common in American kitchens until the 18th century, but the famous a la mode version topped with vanilla ice cream did not become popular in New York until the 19th century.
Because of the meaning of “red, white, and blue,” you’ll find apple pies on picnic tables across the country every Fourth of July when Americans celebrate their independence from England. Two of the most popular versions of the dessert are the traditional round crust variety and the Dutch, or crumbly, apple crust variety. Most people like it fresh and hot from the oven, but frozen apple pies are also big sellers. Ask Sarah Lee.

The birthplace of ice cream is unclear, but food historians date it to the Chinese and their favorite flavored ice creams dating back to 3000 BC. Marco Polo is credited with bringing the idea to Italy, where the modern ice cream we enjoy was born in the 17th century. The first ice cream recipe in America is believed to be from a 1792 book called “The New Art of Cookery, According to Present Practice.”
The invention of the hand-made ice cream maker in 1843 allowed people to make their own, and homemade ice cream is popular with American families today.
Many flavors have come and gone over the years, but none have rocked the ice cream world quite like cookie dough in 1979 and chocolate chip cookie dough in 1991.
Quick And Easy Apple Desserts

Served hot or at room temperature, piped from scratch or mixed, brownies are probably one of the most versatile desserts out there if you’re into chocolate. Some brownies like their creations to be more cake-like, while others enjoy a nice, moist consistency. Generally, how browned you are will be affected by the number of eggs and oil you use in the recipe, as well as how long you cook it.
The brown color can also be customized to suit your taste. A traditional chocolate bar is a classic, indulgent choice, but some aspiring chefs like to include other ingredients. For example, cream cheese, peanut butter or chocolate chips, coffee, white chocolate, and ice are all popular toppings. Their versatility alone makes brownies one of America’s favorite desserts.
For cookie lovers, there are few recipes more beloved than the classic chocolate chip. It’s hard to beat the combination of cookie dough and that delicious semi-sweet chocolate jam, especially when they come straight out of the hot oven. And chocolate chip cookies are American. The recipe was created in the late 1930s by Ruth Wakefield, who ran the Toll House Restaurant in Whitman, Massachusetts. Her recipe was a hit with guests, and it ran on Betty Crocker’s radio show, and in 1939, Wakefield sold the rights to the recipe to Nestlé. Wakefield’s original recipe is what we now know as Nestlé Toll House’s original chocolate chip cookies.
